The Inside Track · Issue #3
The fix that missed the problem.
It’s 9.40 on a Tuesday night. You’ve tried more marketing, more hiring, more hours. Each fix helped for a month. Then the same ceiling came back.
The Idea
Your business moves at the speed of its slowest link
Eliyahu Goldratt’s Theory of Constraints. A business can only move as fast as its slowest link. Improve anything else and little changes. Improve the constraint and everything speeds up.
The Catch
Constraints arrive in disguise
- “I need more leads” is usually a leaking offer or follow-up.
- “Cash is tight” is usually pricing or margin.
- “I need more time” is usually priorities.
Try This Today
Write your biggest frustration at the top of a page. Ask “why?” five times. The last answer is closer to the constraint than the first.
If You’d Like Help
I’ve opened the Inside Track Intensive. Five one-on-one calls, five days, one 90-day plan. A small number of places, by application.
