ActionCOACH offers a coaching network, the ABoS platform and two free weeks. Simple-Growth is one owner-run coach who finds your constraint first. Here is who each suits, what is public on cost, and six questions to ask. Checked 4 November 2026.

When every clinic, cafe or workshop in your category says it is the best, the owner who wins is the one who picks a promise customers can feel and then builds the business to deliver it. PhysioACTION in Auckland did exactly that with one line: "A better experience".

A disclosure first: this is a Simple-Growth client story, written by Simple-Growth. The testimonial below is quoted word for word from the client. This page does not claim revenue, patient or profit figures, because none are on file that the client has approved for publication. Market: New Zealand.

What Was The Problem?

Physiotherapy in Auckland is a crowded, referral-heavy category. Clinics tend to look the same from the outside: similar services, similar prices, similar claims. An owner in that position has two bad options: compete on price, or say "we are the best" like everyone else. Neither gives a new patient a reason to choose you, and neither gives your team something to rally around.

What Was Done?

  • Found the positioning. The coaching work landed on a single, ownable promise: "PhysioACTION - A better experience". It is short enough for a team to remember and specific enough to test every decision against.
  • Turned the promise into a business question. Instead of leaving it as a tagline, the question became: "How do we make this better for our customers and our team?" That question now gets asked in every part of the business.
  • Planned the experience, not just the message. The coaching scope covered goals and a growth plan for enquiries and engagement, how a CRM could improve the patient experience (for example online booking, appointment reminders and keeping patients updated on appointments remaining on their claim), the business structure and management roles, and rolling the new brand essence across the clinic and its schools programme. This describes the agreed scope of the work, not a list of results.

What Does The Owner Say?

"Kevin worked with us at PhysioACTION to develop a positioning that sets us apart, 'PhysioACTION - A better experience', then helped us build the experience to match. In every part of the business we ask how to make it better for our customers and our team, and that's now the standard we hold ourselves to."

Simon Keepa
PhysioACTION (quoted word for word)

In The Icehouse's coaching feedback, the same client described the coaching as: "Relevant, detailed, genuine motivation and interest." (Simon Keepa, PhysioACTION.)

Why An Experience Promise Matters Right Now

Cost pressure is not going away for New Zealand owners. In the ANZ Business Outlook for October 2026, a net 81.9% of firms expected their own costs to rise, and a net 52.2% expected to raise their prices. When most competitors are lifting prices at the same time, the clinic or business with a clearer reason to be chosen has more room to hold its position. "Net" means the share expecting a rise minus the share expecting a fall.

What We Can And Cannot Say

  • We can say the positioning was developed in coaching, and the client credits it in their own words.
  • We cannot publish revenue, patient numbers or profit changes, so this page does not. Do not read this as a promise that your results will match.
  • This story suits owners in service businesses where customers compare you on trust and experience, not on a feature list.

Four Steps To Copy This Month

  • Ask your last ten customers one question: "What was it like dealing with us?" Write down the exact words they use.
  • Find the phrase that keeps coming up and that a competitor could not honestly say. That is the start of your promise.
  • Write the promise as a question your team can ask every day, such as "Is this a better experience for the customer?"
  • Fix the one moment in the customer journey that most breaks the promise: the booking, the reminder, the follow-up or the invoice. Measure it for 30 days.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a positioning line the same as a slogan?

No. A slogan is something you say. A positioning is a promise you build the business to keep, which is why the experience work mattered as much as the words.

Does this only work for health clinics?

No. The same approach suits any service business where customers choose on trust and experience, from trades to professional services.

Why are there no results figures?

Because none have been approved for publication. Simple-Growth only publishes figures it can source, and attributes client claims to the client.

Can I get help finding my own positioning?

Yes. It starts with a free 30-minute conversation to find the real constraint before you spend another dollar.
