The fastest, simplest ways to grow your business - no jargon, no fluff. Practical strategies that actually work for SME owners in the USA, New Zealand, and worldwide.

Most strategy fails in translation, not in ambition. An owner sets a clear goal in the boardroom — grow revenue 20%, launch two new SKUs, win three national accounts — and by the time it reaches the warehouse floor or the sales desk, nobody can tell you how their Monday connects to it. The goal was real. The cascade never happened.
A top-line target is a direction, not an instruction. "Grow revenue 20%" doesn't tell your sales manager what to do differently this week, and it doesn't tell your ops lead what capacity needs to change to support it. Without a deliberate cascade, the goal sits in a slide deck while the business keeps running on last quarter's habits. Everyone nods in the strategy session and goes back to doing exactly what they were doing before.
This is the single biggest reason strategic plans in SMEs quietly die: not resistance, not poor execution — a missing translation layer between the boardroom number and the individual's task list.
A strategy cascade works in three tiers. Company goal at the top — the number the whole business is accountable for. Team goals in the middle — what each function has to deliver for the company goal to be possible; sales' contribution, ops' contribution, marketing's contribution, stated as numbers, not sentiments. Individual weekly actions at the bottom — the specific, checkable thing each person does differently this week because of the goal above it.
The test of a real cascade: pick any employee at random and ask them how their work this week ties to the company's growth target. If they can't answer in one sentence, the cascade doesn't exist yet — no matter how good the strategy document looks.
Cascades fail silently when they only live in the owner's head. Every team goal needs to be written down, owned by a named person, and reviewed on a fixed cadence — weekly for the individual level, monthly for the team level. If it's not written and reviewed, it's not a cascade; it's an intention, and intentions don't move revenue.
The businesses in our Simple-Growth System™ that execute well aren't the ones with the most sophisticated strategy — they're the ones who ruthlessly cascade a simple strategy all the way down to a Monday task list, every single quarter.
Not sure your team could answer the "how does this week connect" test right now? That's exactly the gap we close in the Simple-Growth System™ — get in touch with Kevin D'Ambros-Smith to build your cascade.
