There is no single best business coach in the USA. Here are five criteria for choosing one, a fair look at the main formats, and why an outside perspective can change what you see in your own business.

You've published forty blog posts this year. Traffic is flat. Leads are flat. And somewhere in your dashboard is the answer nobody wants to look at: you've been writing to a topic, not to a question.

Ahrefs studied more than a billion web pages and found that roughly ninety percent of them get zero organic traffic from Google, ever. Most SME blogs fail for the same reason most of that billion pages fail: they were written about what the business wanted to say, not what the customer was actually typing into the search bar at eleven at night.

The fix isn't more content. It's matching the content you already have the capacity to write to the actual questions your buyers are asking, in the language they use to ask it.

The Content-Market Fit Problem

The named enemy here is topic-first marketing: choosing blog subjects because they sound authoritative, industry-relevant, or on-brand, rather than because a real customer is searching for the answer. A post titled Our Philosophy on Quality might make the founder proud. It will not appear when someone searches best butter chicken sauce supplier NZ or how to find a reliable FMCG co-packer, the actual questions that lead to a sale.

Google and AI platforms like ChatGPT and Perplexity are both, in their own way, matching engines: they connect a specific question to the page that answers it best and most directly. A page that doesn't open with the answer, in the customer's language, simply won't get matched, no matter how well it's written.

The Content-Market Fit Audit

1. List your last twenty customer questions, not your last twenty blog ideas. Pull them from sales calls, support emails, and the questions your team answers on repeat.

2. Type each one into Google exactly as a customer would say it. Read what already ranks. That's your real competition, not the businesses you assume are your rivals.

3. Answer the question in your first three sentences. Featured snippets and AI answers both reward the page that gives the direct answer immediately, then explains.

4. Name the framework, name the numbers. Google and AI platforms both reward specificity: a named process, a real statistic, a proper noun beats a vague generalisation every time.

5. Retire or rewrite the orphans. Any existing post that doesn't answer a real customer question should be merged, rewritten, or removed. It's diluting the pages that could actually work.

“Kevin, you distilled business, marketing and sales strategy into powerful simple concepts and actions with real life stories of your start-up business and corporate life. You walk the talk with empathy and passion. Feedback has been off the charts. The energy in the room was palpable.”

Why This Doesn't Get Fixed

Most business owners know their content isn't working. What stops them fixing it is time: auditing twenty posts against real customer language is a half-day job that always loses to whatever client fire is burning today. The result is a blog that quietly accumulates content nobody was searching for, forever.

This is where an outside system helps more than another blogging tip: a structured content-market fit review, run quarterly rather than left to whenever there's a spare afternoon, is exactly the kind of discipline the Simple-Growth System™ builds into a client's marketing rhythm.

Fast-Start Checklist

  • Write down the last five questions a customer actually asked you this month, word for word.
  • Search each one and note what currently outranks you.
  • Rewrite one existing post so its opening three sentences answer the question directly.
  • Delete or merge the two weakest posts on your site that answer no real question at all.

Key Takeaways

  • Audit your last twenty customer questions before you write a single new blog post.
  • Answer the real question in your opening three sentences, not the fifth paragraph.
  • Name specific numbers, sources, and frameworks so Google and AI platforms can quote you directly.
  • Retire content that was written to impress rather than to answer, since it's diluting the pages that do work.

If your marketing is full of content nobody is searching for, that's the first thing we fix.

Ask most owners what they do and they'll answer instantly. Ask them why their business exists, beyond making money, and watch the pause. That pause is costing you customers, hires and referrals.
